Hello! I am here on the farm in the region of Cataluña! and recovering from being a little sick the past couple days. Barcelona was a blast and can tell you all about it when i get home. Also went swimming in the mediteranian which was freezing but had to be done. I am eating so much delicious fresh food here it is great. Next week i got to ASturias (small farm in the middle of nowhere/paradise) till the end of June. And the plans as of now are that i will go to germany to visit friends afterwards, and then to england/ireland7scotland where hopefully i will know someone i can stay with, and then come back to the states in early august. Anyway, i am sureiyou are all doing well, love and miss you!,
Hasta luego,

update; por fin (finally)

So, I don't know if anyone is still bothering to read this but I've been quite busy living in the present, which when done right doesn't leave one much time to report online, or keep in contact with dear ones far away either. But some new developments:
I have decided to stay in Spain for May and a little bit of June working on two local farms through a program called WWOOF. !!!
Madrid is still excellent. Spanish is still being learned at a slow and steady pace. NExt week is our vacation and I'm embarking on an unplanned adventure with my swiss friend Elodi to the cities of Cordoba (majestic mosque i really wanna check out) and Sevilla (supposedly has the most impressive religious processions for easter). To all my family I am going to miss not being home for Easter and spending the holiday with all of you. First time haven't been home for one of the big three (thanksgiving and Christmas) and it feels pretty wierd.
well, i hope you are all doing well.

Hello all,
Sorry I haven't been posting a lot. (But really, what did we expect?)

I am still doing very well across the sea. School is actually starting to become like school which is a bummer. A 6 pg paper in spanish is pretty intimidating. BUt hopefully I'll get started on it and not get overwhelmed.

I was in the beautiful city of Granada last weekend, home of the impressive Alambra. It was a lot of fun. I am running out to my first spanish protest right now, (something about housing problems in madrid and homelessness) but I'll post again later...

:)
love

Hey everyone. Sunday night, feelin good. Had a fun, full weekend. Soccer game today was fun. Toledo yesterday was beautiful, and has a really interesting history. Especially the cultural interactions between Christians, Muslims and Jews. The museum was great also. I learned about Picasso's famous "Guernica" and viewing it left quite an impression on me.
This week, starting tomorrow, I am going to be only speaking Spanish. I expect it to be one of the most difficult things I've attempted in my life. So I will still speak to people that only speak english if need be, but I am going to try and keep it to a minimum. HOpe all are well, until next week!

La Segunda

I wrote this Sunday night, but wasn't able to post it due to technical complications...

Hello all. It's late but no tengo ganas de dormirme (I don't feel like sleeping), so I thought I'd put up a new post. Let's see... Lately (and currently) I've been rockin' out and mellowin' out to lots of White Stripes but I guess I can do that in the U.S. too so its not that exciting. But it is a major part of my life and that's what this blog is about: me. So this weekend, this weekend was fun. Friday night I went out to two cool bars (contraclub and areia), and then around 3:00 AM went to what may become my home away from home "El Junco". It is a jazz club that has free live music every night, and later has a DJ spinning some sweet tunes. Some of you may be familar with my desire to have more funk in my life-- this desire was fulfilled on friday. We danced for three hours to regae/rap/hiphop infused funk that was really fun. And lots of people there had some funky dance moves I was diggin. Then we caught the first morning metro back at 6. It was fun. Saturday went to a battle of the bands (at contraclub) between two spanish local groups that was fun. Then went to another discoteca (dance club) that was aight, but couldn't even hold a candle to "el junco". I am glad to have found one place I really dig that I can hang out at until 6 in the morning, but must endeavour to find others.

Anyway, I just bought tickets to the Atletico Madrid futbol game this sunday, and am really excited to go see it! and I am almost definetly going to go to Toledo for a daytrip this saturday. Toledo is a small and really old city within striking distance of Madrid, and it is supposed to be beautiful and really cool. (I think it was the capitol (or at least a capitol) of spain prior to Madrid.

I'm also going to El Museo Reina Sofia which is a huge art museum with lots of modern art on thursday. We are going with our art +architeqture guide Sonia who is very nice and I really enjoy hearing her speak about the artwork. I probably enjoed El Prado (Home to lots of Goya's work) more than I've ever enjoyed in an art museum because she gave things context. Lookin foward to that

Finally, I'm also psyched to go see my first spanish movie tomorrow- El Trunco del Manco. The trailer looks pretty sweet, and I'll get to meet my Spanish cinema professor who is attending with us. Yes, by the way I've decided to take Spanish Cinema and History of Art and Architecture(where I will learn how to spell) as my two electives. Which bothsound pretty sweet.

Wow, how long is this blog post. I guess people are asking me to write a lot, so I feel no guilt about rambling for so long. PLus, maybe I can use the length as an excuse for future gaps between posts.

and oh yes, friends, oh so important friends. I have been having fun with some clark kids, along with a couple of other american and international students I've met through my school. Pues, hasta luego
love and peace

Vídeos en ELPAÍS.com

Vídeos en ELPAÍS.com

Hola todos!

So, I have just made a blog so that everyone who wants to hear about my fascinating life in Madrid will be able too. And because in reality the internet and email are often an overwhelming stress in my life, and I think this will simplify things. I don't really know how this works yet, but firstly I am going to post a video of myself at the Barack Obama inaugaration party here in Madrid.
http://www.elpais.com/multigalerias/elpgal/Gran_Dia_Obama/20090120elpepuint_1/Zes

Well, I have done that. When you click on the link, you need to scroll down on the right of the page to the video titled:

Obama aclamado en Madrid

Don't give up on the video if you don't see me at first. El Pais is the premier newwspaper aqui (here) en Espana, so thats kinda sweet.

Anyway, I've got some smelly B.O. going on so I am going to go take a shower, but hopefully I can get this blogsite to everyone who might be interested in reading it, and more updates shall come! (I don't know with what frequency so hopefully there is some way to be alerted via email when I make a new post).
Hasta Luego
